Jakarta, February 3rd, 2025 – PT Citra Nusantara Gemilang Tbk (CGAS) is strengthening its position in the clean energy sector with the launch of its second Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Riau and South Sumatra. This strategic initiative aligns with Indonesia’s national energy self-sufficiency goals while promoting the adoption of cleaner energy sources beyond Java.
The expansion was officially marked by the signing of a Head of Agreement between CGAS and PT Odira Energy Karang Agung, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to providing more efficient, sustainable, and competitive LNG supply. With a planned capacity of 4 MMBTU, the project is expected to commence operations in 2027, generating an additional revenue stream of up to USD 4.3 million annually for CGAS, with continued growth potential.
As part of its long-term strategy, CGAS remains committed to accelerating the transition to cleaner energy sources. The company’s first LNG project, set for completion in 2026, serves as a strong foundation for the development of this second initiative.
“This project is not just about business expansion; it reflects our commitment to building a more sustainable energy future. With our second LNG project, CGAS is even more confident in supporting government policies to achieve energy self-sufficiency through the utilization of domestic resources,” said Andika Purwonugroho, President Director of PT Citra Nusantara Gemilang Tbk.
The LNG market in Riau and South Sumatra presents significant growth potential, particularly with rising energy demand from the industrial and commercial sectors. This project is expected to stimulate local economic growth, create new job opportunities, and deliver positive social and economic impact to surrounding communities.
Furthermore, leveraging advanced technology and industry expertise, this initiative is set to become a benchmark for LNG infrastructure development in Indonesia. CGAS and Odira Energy are confident that this project will be a new growth engine for the country’s energy sector, accelerating the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
As part of its long-term expansion strategy, CGAS continues to broaden its footprint in the LNG sector. The launch of its second LNG project further underscores the company’s commitment to delivering clean, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions for Indonesia. With a strong vision to lead the domestic LNG market, CGAS is poised to drive greener energy initiatives and contribute to the nation’s energy independence goals.
